Image Research

The following images on this blog page are images that inspired me to what i have done in my fmp animation.
Cartoon and Film; Avatar The Last Airbender, Games; Crash Bandicoot and Super Mario 2d and 3d.
Also Atmospheric environments created by other artists helped me come up with an idea and go with it.

The concept of my animation is similar to the game style in Crash Bandicoot as when you start a level, it shows the destination point with the camera going through the stage to where Crash Bandicoot is.

Picture below is a screen shot from the game "Crash Bandicoot", image 1 is the level starting, image 2's camera view goes through the level showing the obstacles are, image 3 shows where "Crash" will start the level.
The camera angles in the game has influenced me to do a similar concept in my animation as in my animation, the camera shows where the destination point to where the character needs to go then also goes through the scene to where the character is.

The Movie The Last Airbender has the same obstacle i included in my animation. When watching this film, i immediately knew it was an effect obstacle to include in my animation as the guards did not dare to jump on the logs.

The next couple of images are existing art works done by other students. It inspired me to design concepts for "guards" in my scene, which the final outcome was a skeleton.
I choose to use a skeleton as guards in my animation to my advantage as i had good knowledge of the human anatomy and also knew it will be an effective idea.

Next few images are existing character designs which i got ideas from to develop and create my character.
Some of the characters are strong super heros with muscles, i wanted to create and model a similar concept but however simplify it a bit with my character being a super hero with no muscles showing.
I looked at existing cartoons and researched the simple character designs.

Picture below is captured from the animated film Monster House which is a horror/comedy. I love this film as it had me off my seat a few times and also the concept designs for the characters and buildings inspired me.

The Incredibles is one of my favourite animation films. Each character had their own super power which complimented each others.
The character designs in the films i looked at where simple ideas, its what edged me to create a simple/effective character design.

Final character idea(shown below) is aimed at most ages, however i find that category of young children will find it more appealing to adults. This is because it has a simple texture and a likable appearance.
